1st Article – THE FRENCH-BRAZILIAN ONCOLOGY SOCIETY is a non-profit civilian society. It devotes its income and resources within Brazil in the development and promotion of its institutional objectives. These objectives are defined by this statute and applicable legal guidelines.

2nd Article – The society’s official and legal address is Rua Dr. Sá Earp nº 309, Centro, in the city of Petrópolis, in the state of Rio de Janeiro. However, the Society may open new offices in Brazil or abroad if the Advisory Council so decides. The society’s activities began on January 2, 2000 and will operate for indefinitely period.

3rd Article – The purpose of the society will be to:

a) Organize meetings with physicians, medical students and other health professionals in order to debate scientific medical topics.

b) Promote scientific progress and encourage professional development through continuing education study and research of new techniques and medical treatment in the field of oncology. The society may buy and/or import medicine and medical equipment, as well as other products designed for treatment.

c) Assure permanent contact and exchange information with universities, hospitals and other group associations and institutions, in Brazil or abroad, by means of conventions, lectures, courses and other events in order to achieve its social objectives.

d) Finance, in extraordinary situations, the treatment of patients with interesting medical cases if the Advisory Board so decides.

e) Grant scholarships to oncology physicians and medical students if the Advisory Board so decides.

f) Publish and distribute books, films, brochures, CD-ROMs and other materials with focus on oncology or other medical subjects.

g) Conduct other activities associated with the social purposes described in this Statute.
